Merit Badges are an important part of the Boy Scout program, and over 125 merit badges are currently offered. You can find Counselors for each Merit Badge on our Online Merit Badge Counselor Listing. Adults with experience in a Merit Badge subject are encouraged to become Merit Badge Counselors. To learn more, see our SDIC Merit Badge Counselor page. Units or groups that wish to hold a Merit Badge event must have on staff council-approved merit badge counselors and submit the Merit Badge Event Approval Form at least three weeks prior to the event.
The BSA STEM/Nova Awards program incorporates learning with cool activities and exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics for Scouts at all levels. The hope is that earning these awards stimulates interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) fields. Counselors and mentors help bring this engaging, contemporary, and fun program to life for youth members. Apply to be a mentor.
